A little about petticoats, new product launches, contact details, some colour charts and credit card acceptance.

Fabrics: Petticoats are constructed from several fabrics: chiffon, organza, net and crystal organza. The softest is chiffon which is comfortable, but appears not to be as full as other fabrics for a given yardage. Organza holds its shape more, being more rigid, and as a result is less comfy. Net is also used and again is not as comfy as chiffon.

Crystal Organza is very popular and is a sparkly translucent material available in wonderful colours. It packs well and can be machine washed (on a delicate cycle). It is also expensive.

Fullness: This is referred to when talking about petticoats - how full they are - and is quoted in terms of yardage - for instance 40 yards. This does not mean 40 yards of material was used in the construction though. Rather, the bottom edge is 40 yards long. Petticoats generally come in 10 yard steps from 20 yards to 100 yards. The trimming can also add to fullness with ruffles giving a very full look and hemmed or lace trimmed petticoats less full.

Above we have shown our peek-a-boo lace circle skirt with (from left) a 20 yard, 40 yard and 60 yard petticoat beneath. All the petticoats are organdy, chiffon would not appear as full.

This colour chart on the left shows a selection of the colours from Sams. All the colours are from pictures of petticoats. We would ask you to remember that colours are notoriously difficult to reproduce digitally and while we believe these to be reasonably accurate the actual colours may vary. One fabric may appear different in colour to another as well.

Compare it to the chart below which shows Malco Modes colours - some are the same, raspberry and berry for instance.
